Wystawa “Nici nie znają granic”

Tydzień temu miałam okazję odwiedzić największą międzynarodową wystawę patchworków w Polsce zorganizowaną przez Stowarzyszenie Polskiego Patchworku i Muzeum Lniarstwa w Żyrardowie.

A week ago I had the opportunity to see the largest International Patchwork Exhibition in Poland, organized by the Polish Patchwork Association and the Museum of Linen in Zyrardow.

The collected works were made in 2019 to celebrate the 30 th Anniversary of the European Quilt Association (which is an organization that gathers patchwork guilds from Europe) under the slogan of “Threads without Borders”. The exhibition displayed 114 art quilts from 19 European countries, such as: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Spain, Netherlands, Ireland, Iceland, Latvia, Germany, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden, Hungary, Great Britain, and Italy.

The main goal and message of the EQA project was to present thread as an element, which connects and binds together not only fabric scraps, but all people. The entire exhibit is therefore a metaphor for the unity of all nations, beyond geopolitical divisions and borders. With the state of current events the world has been facing, the project’s message seems to be even more important than ever”- said Magdalena Galinska, a member of the Polish Patchwork Association, and co-organizer of the project.

I agree with her, and I am so proud that my art quilt, “The Link,” was selected to be the background for the poster of Polish exhibition.

Gdybyście chcieli poczytać jak powstawała ta praca zapraszam Was tutaj.

If you wish to know how my art quilt was created, you can read about it here. Of course, I also wish to invite all of you to visit the exhibit in the Museum of Linen in Zyrardow, which will run until June 19, 2022. If miss the chance to see it, the exhibit’s next stop will be in Finland.

You can also check out the photos here, although I know they don’t reflect how interesting and creative all of the pieces were.
