W ostatnich dniach lutego miałam ogromną przyjemność zobaczyć w Centrum Kultury i Sztuki w Skierniewicach wyjątkową wystawę Galli Grotto „Encyklopedia Kobiet”. To była jedna z tych ekspozycji, które zostają w człowieku na długo — nie tylko ze względu na temat, ale przede wszystkim dzięki niezwykłej technice i wrażliwości artystki.

At the end of February, I had the great pleasure of visiting the Centre for Culture and Art in Skierniewice to see Galla Grotto’s remarkable exhibition “Encyclopedia of Women.” It was one of those exhibitions that stay with you for a long time — not only because of the theme, but above all thanks to the artist’s extraordinary technique and sensitivity.

Ende Februar hatte ich die große Freude, im Kultur- und Kunstzentrum in Skierniewice die außergewöhnliche Ausstellung „Enzyklopädie der Frauen“ von Galla Grotto zu sehen. Es war eine dieser Ausstellungen, die lange im Gedächtnis bleiben — nicht nur wegen des Themas, sondern vor allem dank der außergewöhnlichen Technik und Sensibilität der Künstlerin.

Prace Galli są absolutnie wyjątkowe. Każdy obraz łączy w sobie precyzję, wyczucie koloru i ogromną wyobraźnię. Od dawna byłam ciekawa, jakiej techniki używa, aby uzyskać tak malarskie, a jednocześnie tekstylne efekty. Na żywo robi to jeszcze większe wrażenie — struktura, faktura, światło i detale sprawiają, że trudno oderwać wzrok. To nie są zwykłe patchworki. To obrazy szyte nitką, emocją i doświadczeniem. Każda praca opowiada historię kobiety — jej siły, delikatności, codzienności i tajemnicy.

Galla’s works are truly exceptional. Each piece combines precision, a refined sense of colour, and immense imagination. I had long been curious about the technique she uses to achieve such painterly yet textile effects. Seeing the works in person makes an even stronger impression — the structure, texture, light, and details make it impossible to look away. These are not ordinary patchworks. They are images sewn with thread, emotion, and experience. Each work tells the story of a woman — her strength, delicacy, everyday life, and mystery.

Gallas Werke sind wirklich einzigartig. Jedes Bild verbindet Präzision, ein feines Farbgefühl und große Vorstellungskraft. Schon lange war ich neugierig, welche Technik sie verwendet, um solche malerischen und gleichzeitig textilen Effekte zu erzielen. Live wirken die Arbeiten noch beeindruckender — Struktur, Textur, Licht und Details machen es schwer, den Blick abzuwenden. Das sind keine gewöhnlichen Patchworks. Es sind Bilder, die mit Faden, Emotion und Erfahrung genäht sind. Jedes Werk erzählt die Geschichte einer Frau — ihrer Stärke, Zartheit, Alltäglichkeit und ihres Geheimnisses.

Wystawa została przygotowana z okazji 10‑lecia Stowarzyszenia Polskiego Patchworku. To świetny pomysł, bo Galla Grotto od lat wystawia swoje prace głównie za granicą — we Francji, Niemczech, Irlandii czy Norwegii. Trudno było trafić na jej wystawę w Polsce, dlatego tym bardziej cieszę się, że mogłam ją zobaczyć właśnie w Skierniewicach.

The exhibition was organised to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Polish Patchwork Association. It was a wonderful idea, especially since Galla Grotto has been exhibiting her works mainly abroad for years — in France, Germany, Ireland, and Norway. It has always been difficult to catch her exhibition in Poland, which makes me even happier that I could see it here in Skierniewice.

Die Ausstellung wurde anlässlich des 10‑jährigen Jubiläums des Polnischer Patchwork‑Verband. Eine großartige Idee, denn Galla Grotto stellt ihre Werke seit Jahren hauptsächlich im Ausland aus — in Frankreich, Deutschland, Irland und Norwegen. Es war immer schwierig, eine ihrer Ausstellungen in Polen zu sehen, weshalb ich mich umso mehr freue, dass ich sie gerade in Skierniewice erleben konnte.

Ekspozycja była dostępna tylko do 28 lutego 2026 roku, więc dla tych, którzy nie zdążyli jej zobaczyć, mam dobrą wiadomość — zrobiłam sporo zdjęć i dzielę się nimi poniżej. Oczywiście nie oddają w pełni uroku prac, ale pozwalają choć trochę poczuć klimat tej niezwykłej wystawy.

The exhibition was available only until 28 February 2026, so for those who didn’t manage to visit it, I have good news — I took plenty of photos and I’m sharing them below. They cannot fully capture the beauty of the works, but they offer at least a glimpse of the atmosphere of this unique exhibition.

Die Ausstellung war nur bis zum 28. Februar 2026 zu sehen. Für alle, die es nicht geschafft haben, habe ich gute Nachrichten — ich habe viele Fotos gemacht und teile sie hier. Natürlich können sie die Schönheit der Werke nicht vollständig wiedergeben, aber sie vermitteln zumindest ein wenig die Atmosphäre dieser außergewöhnlichen Ausstellung.

Cieszę się, że mogłam zobaczyć ją na żywo. To spotkanie z kobiecą energią, sztuką i ogromnym talentem. Mam nadzieję, że jeszcze kiedyś będziemy mogli podziwiać prace Galli Grotto w Polsce — bo naprawdę warto.

I’m truly glad I had the chance to see it live. It was a meeting with feminine energy, art, and immense talent. I hope that one day we will again have the opportunity to admire Galla Grotto’s works in Poland — because they are absolutely worth seeing.

Ich bin sehr froh, dass ich diese Ausstellung live sehen konnte. Es war eine Begegnung mit weiblicher Energie, Kunst und großem Talent. Ich hoffe, dass wir Galla Grottos Werke eines Tages wieder in Polen bewundern können — denn sie sind wirklich sehenswert.
