“Speed”

Trzy lata temu, tematem konkursowym wystawy patchworków w Maastricht (Open European Quilt Championships) w dniach 19-22 października 2017 był “Speed”.

Three years ago, the competition theme for the patchwork exhibition in Maastricht (Open European Quilt Championships) on October 19-22^nd 2017 was ‘Speed’.

Postanowiłam stworzyć quilt i wziąć udział w konkursie. Niestety festiwal się nie odbył więc i konkurs przepadł. Pozostał mi tylko obraz.

I decided to take a part in this competition and make a quilt. Unfortunately, the festival was cancelled so the contest fell apart. The only thing was left over was a picture.

Obraz, który jest dość szczególny, ponieważ składa się z trzech części. Każda z części może być osobnym quiltem lub dzięki z szyciu ze sobą wszystkich części – jednym.

The picture is quite special because it is created using three separate parts. Each part could be presented as a separate quilt or they could be sewn together to become one.

Wszystkie trzy prace narysowane zostały w Corelu.

All three parts were drawn in Corel

Pierwszy quilt przedstawia geparda pędzącego w czasie wschodu słońca przez ulicę miasta.

First quilt depicts a speeding cheetah during sunrise through city streets.

Długo szukałam zdjęcia, które idealnie by pasowało do mojej wizji. Gepard musiał być uchwycony w biegu.

I spent a long time searching for the perfect image that would match my vision. The cheetah had to be caught in mid sprint.

Udało się.

I got it.

Po narysowaniu zwierzaka zabrałam się za szukanie ulicy po której mógłby biec. Zależało mi żeby w tle były budynki, a ulica była rozświetlona. Gdy wszystko było gotowe połączyłam geparda z ulicą i zabrałam się za tworzenie quiltu.

After drawing the animal, I went looking for a street where it could run. I wanted the skyscrapers in the background and the street to be lit up. When I got what I needed I connected the cheetah with the street and stared to create the quilt.

Zaczęłam od geparda. Zrobiłam mu piękne oczy za pomocą igły do filcowania oraz wełny czesankowej.

I started with the cheetah.  I gave him beautiful eyes with the help of a felting needle and worsted wool.

Następnie stworzyłam mordkę, w której zamierzałam umieścić oczy.

Next, I created a face in which I was going to put in the eyes.

Gdy pysk był gotowy, po kolei robiłam łapy.

When the mouth was ready, I made the paws one by one.

Następnie powstał tułów tygrysa do którego przymocowałam głowę.

Next the torso was created to which I attached the head.

Gdy tylna część tułowia była już gotowa zabrałam się za przednią. Moje wcześnie zrobione łapki idealnie tu pasowały.

When the back of the torso was ready, I stared to create the front. My previously made paws fit perfectly.

Teraz należało wstawić oczy. I gepard gotowy.

Now I inserted the eyes. And the cheetah was ready.

Teraz przyszedł czas na ulicę. Zaczęłam od budynków.

Now came the time to make the street. I started with the buildings.

Potem przyszedł czas na ulicę w smugach świateł.

Then it was time to make a street in streaks of lights.

Następnie wszystko razem połączyłam i zabrałam się za pikowanie.

I then connected all the pieces together and started quilting.

Jeszce tylko obcięcie nitek, lamówka i obraz był gotowy.

All that is left is just cutting the threads, the binding and the image was ready.

Za tydzień opowiem o dalszych dwóch częściach quiltu.
