This quilt was born from a heartfelt love for autumn colors. I designed the central panel myself in November 2024 — it features a woman surrounded by leaves, birds, and pumpkins, all in warm shades of gold, red, and brown. These tones inspired the name “Autumn Echo.”
I used the OBW – One Block Wonder technique, which creates mesmerizing kaleidoscopic effects. The hexagons are 5 inches, meaning I cut the triangles to 3 inches — a precise task, especially since I was sewing… with a broken leg! Yes, I couldn’t walk, but I could still create. And that gave me strength and a sense of purpose.
I hoped to finish the quilt as part of the “Finish Your UFO in November” challenge, but life had other plans. I didn’t make the deadline, but I completed it before the end of December — and that counts! Now I can start the new year with a clean slate and fresh ideas.

Autumn Echo is more than just a quilt — it’s a memory, a healing process, and proof that beauty can be born even in difficult times.

Happy New Year
