I designed the panel in November 2024, with the idea of something cosmic, mysterious, and full of energy. The printed panel turned out wonderfully.
To create the final form, I used the OBW technique. I cut it into small triangles, which I then stitched into half hexagons. And so – in this form – it rested quietly in a box until September 2025. Why so long? My studio renovation and broken leg effectively stopped me in my track. But finally, the moment came: it had to be finished.
I sewed it on my beloved Bernina B325 – a tiny but brave machine that accompanies me in many projects. The quilting was done on the Bernina Q24 long arm, which gave me space to play with detail. I added beads, golden and silver thread – subtle flashes that beautifully emphasize the cosmic character of the work.

For the first time, I used threads from Grace – Finesse Classic, which I purchased from quiltprofi-shop.eu during Quilt Fest Austria 2025.
And I must say: I am delighted! The colors are gorgeous – exactly the kind that are missing from my multicolor collection. The threads are made for quilting: they don’t break, split, or fray. They glide over the fabric with ease, and on the finished quilt they look simply beautiful.
“Celestial Hunter” is completed. Ready to hang. Fully prepared to tell its story.
