Last month, I had the amazing opportunity to participate in a Raku ceramics workshops at the Folk University of Artistic Crafts (ULRA). It was a unique experience that will stay in my mind for a long time.
Next, we moved on to the practical part of the workshops. Each participant had previously had the opportunity to create their own clay vessels. After bisque firing and glazing, we proceeded to the Raku firing stage. This is where the magic of Raku became visible. The vessels were taken out of the kiln at high temperatures, sprinkled with sawdust, and cooled in water, which caused the characteristic cracks and color effects to form.
When our vessels were ready, I was delighted with the results. Each one was unique and had its own, distinct patterns. It was an incredible feeling to see how my own hands had created something so beautiful.
The Raku ceramics workshops at ULRA were an incredibly inspiring experience for me. Not only did I learn a new technique, but I also had the chance to express my creativity and create something special. I highly recommend anyone interested in ceramics or looking for new ways to express themselves to try their hand at Raku.
