The goal of the European Quilt Association is to promote the art of patchwork across borders and language barriers. This year, EQA celebrated its 35th anniversary and wanted to commemorate it with a large collection of bird-themed quilts. The work was to include a touch of emerald, which was the color associated with the 35th anniversary celebrations.
The “Bird World” challenge organized by EQA is a fascinating initiative that draws attention to the richness and diversity of the bird world, as well as the challenges they face. As part of this project, participants had the opportunity to explore the birds inhabiting various environments – from remote northern areas to the ice of Antarctica. These birds are perfectly adapted to the places they inhabit, and many have learned to live alongside humans, benefiting from it.
This project was also an opportunity to reflect on extinct bird species and the importance they had for our ecosystem. At a time when human noise is becoming more dominant, birds must adjust their singing voice to be heard. The “Bird World” challenge is a reminder that even in the hustle and bustle of a big city you can discover wildlife and enjoy the presence of birds.
