Ilche-The Winnetou Horse

Ilche-The Winnetou Horse

Thie time something old and something new. Let’s start from something old- OBW again.  It is custom order, but before it went to my client, got its debut at International Quilt Festival in Luxmeburg.

Now something new- I am the designer of this panel, and Cotton Bee printed it out. Yes, yes. You can’t buy it anywhere. It is a very limited edition that means that is mine. It is beautiful, isn’t?

You already know how OBW it’s made, but let me give you a  brief reminder.

We need seven same cotton panels (mine are 41×41 cm). One panel I put aside. Six panels are pinned together then cut into 2,5 “stripes, then 60 ˚triangles and sewed.

I sorted hexes out on the table and selected them by colors. I always do that; it helps me to arrange them around seventh panel.

After that (four hexes did not match) I started sewing them together.

Then I pinned, basted and hand-sewed the seventh and last panel to the sewn hexagons.

Next, I put my work on the long arm I started quilting process. I began with hexes.

After that, it’s a beads time and this is the last stage of embellishing my art quilt.
