Today I want to share my latest work, which is a landscape with a sunset motif over a river. This is my first such project and I am very proud of it!
I created it for the challenge organized on Kim Lapacek’s blog “Color of the sky”.
I was inspired by the watercolor painting “Quiet sunset over the river” by Marina Kriucieńko, which enchanted me with its colors and mood.
To create my own quilt, I first had to choose the right fabrics. I drew a sketch on a piece of paper and then transferred it to a double-sided adhesive fleece. Then I cut out individual elements and glued them to the fabrics I chose from my collection. All the fabrics I used in my picture were hand-dyed by me.
I started with the sky, which has beautiful shades of pink and purple. Then I added trees and shrubs in darker colors to create contrast. Finally, I arranged the water and small islets with grasses that add depth to the picture. When it was almost finished, it was time for quilting. I used different threads to give texture and movement to my quilt

This is what my quilt looks like when it’s finished.
It’s not an exact copy of the watercolor painting, but rather my interpretation and vision of this beautiful view. I hope you like it and it inspires you to create your own landscapes
