Unfortunately, I’m finding it increasingly difficult find a nice panel to work on, which I use later to create my paintings. I was even wondering if I should just give up on this method, because if I’m not able to find something that interests me, how will I continue my passion.
Until one day I found COTTONBEE on Facebook. This company deals with custom printing of fabrics tailored to the customer’s needs.
That’s exactly what I needed. Now, the possibilities for creating new OBWs have become limitless.
The first thing I did was to find a suitable image for my panel. The photo bank helped me with this. I found a beautiful landscape by the author of Balaikin. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for my OBW.
I ordered seven panels from COTTONBEE and started sewing my new OBW. The panels came very quickly. The quality of the fabric was very good. The saturation of colors on the fabric is sensational.
It was a pity to cut them.
The panel is 120cm by 70cm, so there was a lot of sewing.
When all of the hexagons were ready, the madness of assembling the pieces began.
After the composition was ready, I sewed all the hexagons together. Then, after ironing, I sewed them to the last seventh panel.
I stretched the “sandwich” on my long arm and started quilting.
During quilting, I had a guest who wanted to take a ride on my long arm and wanted to quilt a little.
Thanks to my helper my project turned out very nicely.
The art quilt looks fabulous and, most importantly, there is one and only.
