Confetti… an interesting and simple technique. I would like to share with you the confetti method, the source of which I can’t give you because I don’t remember where I found it. For my own purpose, I called it controlled confetti.
I took a piece of tulle and sprinkled out a lot of black shredded fabric chips. Lots of little pieces from the heart. For contrast, I put an orange fabric under the tulle.
I covered it with a water-soluble interlining and pinned it.
I quilted densely, to join the trimmings together as much as possible.
I put the whole quilted piece into the water to dissolve the web. Then I cut every element as I needed and arranged them on my quilt. The black elements are stitched just to stay in place. The background fabric, dyed by Sylwia Ignatowska, I quilted with meanders.
Now, a few words about how the moon is made. This time it’s my patent. The moon consists of four colors. Each fabric is fused with double sided fusible web. I cut every stripe along the edges with a wavy line. I arranged colors on baking paper, so that the edges overlapped on each other, and then ironed it. I stitched along the wavy edges with a dense stitch (1,5-1,8) through baking paper. I drew the circle from the plate. I pulled away the baking paper, which peels off very well at the stitches, and pressed it with an iron to the quilt. The moon is quilted as I saw fit, not necessarily in the places where the colors combined.
The birds are just triangles. Nothing too hard.
