Resently, I was asked to write a post (yes, yes, my demon of vanity has been fed 😊) so let’s get to work.
Pretty often when I watch tutorials on YT, I strongly believe I can memorize all the details. Well… after a while I realized I was wrong, and the process of trying to remember what was going on, is time consuming. So, not to make it “scrap consuming” either, I experiment with paper towels (you can even sew it). I encourage you guys to try it.
Here is a short description of my adventures with this particular pattern.
I took one sheet of some paper towel.
I folded it in half.
I measured 1” from the fold, then another 0.5”, and then another one at 45° to the fold and marked them according to the pattern below.
I cut the lines alternating between one longer cut and one shorter.
I unfold the sheet and the longer piece is then bent in the opposite direction, so that the points meet in the spot marked with the needle.
Since everything worked out on paper so far (obviously not on my first attempt), its time to try this on some fabric.
I cut a piece of fabric with double side fusible web, it is 6” wide and about 10-12” long.
I cut another piece of fabric (purple), also with a double-sided fusible web, the same size as the piece before. The colors of the fabrics should contrast one another.
I put them together with the glue sides in and press.
And I do exactly as I did with the paper towel, so I fold it, mark helping lines, cut it and unfold every other element.
Next, I put it on the background fabric (a third color).
I used three very contrasting colors to make everything visible. I have given you only indicative dimensions, but they are easy to adapt and to them meet your requirements and specific dimensions. I think it’s worth experimenting with a paper towel. I’ll leave the method of stitching and quilting to your imagination. Have fun.
