Do you remember my “Bunny in the garden”. That is him.
The bunny hung in my stairwell and every time I passed it complained that he felt very lonely.
So as not to have to listen to him complain any more, I decided to make him a friend. Her name is “Red”.
For the outer fabric I used “White on White Dry Brush” cotton from the Essential Basics collection from Wilmington Prints. The solid red cotton fabric is “Kona Red.” The black cotton is “Ditte.”

I must admit that I did not have as much fun as the first time. I blame it all on the red Kona cotton. This is the first time I’ve worked with a fabric that could fray so much.
Even the interlining did not help. I could even say that it was fraying just from looking at it. It was a nightmare. And this nightmare feeling accompanied me during the entire process of working on the squirrel. Even during quilting.
Today, thanks to Sylwia 2, now I know that before starting work with such a fabric, it should be subjected to a starching process. Thanks to this, the fibers will stick together, and it will reduce the fraying of the fabric.
Boo. It is a pity that I learned about this after I was finished.
Below, you can find a recipe for the starch, maybe it will be useful to someone. For sure I will be using it if I decide to add another pet to my group.
Starch recipe:
Half a cup of corn starch. One cup of cold water. Stir and pour into a container. Slowly add one liter of boiling water while stirring. Put the fabric in and soak it. Then crumple the fabric, hang it up, do not squeeze it. Iron on the left side.
Red is ready. Unfortunately, she will have to wait until the bunny returns home from an exhibition before she can finally meet him.
