I know that this is not the right time, because instead of spring, autumn is right on our doorstep.
This is my newest art quilt, called “Spring Breath”. Sewn on sad, rainy days as my personal mood enhancer.
The project was based on a photo taken (by me) in my garden.
Initially, the picture was supposed to be about 90 cm wide, but it ended up being 50 cm wide. I came to the conclusion that this size fits him better. However, there were some problems with this. It was quite difficult to cut such small elements with scissors.
But I love challenges.
I used a raw edge applique technic to create this art quilt. As you can see in the photos below, the art quilt was made of many pieces of fabric placed on top of each other and glued together with double-sided interlining. Most of the fabrics used at work, I dyed myself.
Ready flowers were transferred from baking paper to the background fabric. Then the whole piece landed on my long arm.
First, I quilted the background with meanders. Thanks to this the background looked blurry.
Next, I started quilting the individual flowers.
I finished quilting, sewed in the binding, and stretched it over the frame.
My art quilt is ready, it will cheer me up in the gloomy days that are slowly approaching.
