Before I start writing about my backlog of projects, I have to show off a little bit. Mr. Norbert Zietar, a journalist, on-line publisher, and manager of the regional Nowiny office in Przemysl, has written an article about me and my passion. There comes a time when I can no longer postpone certain projects anymore. We tell ourselves that we can finish it later and we happily throw ourselves at new projects. New projects are fun, but those unfinished ones do not simply vanish, they lay there patiently, waiting to be finished. Eventually the day comes when we have to face the fact that this needs to be finished, and it needs to happen now.
I had two projects like that. I purposely write “had” because I finally finished them. I decided to show you the end result today.
The first project was a backpack that I had promised to sew for my daughter. A year has passed by, or maybe even more, since I started working on it and instead of finishing it, kept putting it aside. The fabric was ought in Kiltowo. I did not document the sewing process, so I’ll have to bore you with just text. It was an experimental project. I admit that I am not a big fan of sewing projects like this, but I have to say that the backpack looks good.
The second project that I kept putting off was a rug for my cat. The rug was supposed be made from denim. Why? I did this with the hope that my cat will stop using my denim futon cover to sharpen his claws and instead use his own rug. I really did not want to work on this. I had hoped that my cat would give up his habit. He did not.
The rug was made from the leftovers I had after sewing the upholstery for my chairs and sofa covers.

I made the whole rug on my long-arm.
This time I used three layers. The back, the batting, and the base fabric, on which I drew a circle. I was stacking my cut denim pieces directly on top of it (remembering that each piece should overlap on each other about a half of centimeter). I quilted each piece right away.
I have to admit that I did not make a dense zigzag over the edges. I gave up and left frayed edges.
The rug is done, and the owner is happy. The claws are back in action.
