Hi, it’s me, Sylwia 2. This time I would like to show you my new project made by raw edge fused applique technique. While clicking from one page to another, I stumbled upon “Crazy Quilts Lab,” and I browsed through all of the projects by Rita Gazubey, and they just hit me. To this day I have never bought any ready-made patterns before, but I thought “why not.” Seeing as how the price was not too excessive, I decided that maybe it was worth trying.
The pattern consists of 60 elements and 14 shades. I first decided to go through all of my hoarded treasures, remembering that even a scrap of material the size of a fingernail may come in handy. Of course, all of the pieces are glued with double-sided fusible web.
I chose three background colors, from some pieces of fabric that were hand dyed by Sylwia Ignatowska, while the rest came from different sources. Some of the pieces have been waiting a long time for a new chance at life.
I then arranged the pattern, piece by piece.
The only thing left to do was to make a “sandwich” and the whole piece went under the needle.
I quilted most of the project using a polyester thread.
The size of this project is 45,5 X 56 cm (18” X 22”)
I hope you will like it. I will certainly come back to Rita’s designs again.
