Recently my friend Sylwia 2 visited my blog, thanks to which I was able to visit friends. Writing a blog is challenging if you do it regularly. So, sometimes it is good to have a helping hand. Thank to this help, today I can tell you about my finished, and already gifted, bedcover. I wrote about its beginnings here. I ended my previous post writing about how I quilted the second corner of the bedcover. In meantime, I changed the length of my hair and visited an exhibition in Żyrardów. So, there was something going on.
Now I can show further progress and the final result.
I was planning to quilt it with big meanders, but at some point, I realized that maniacally I quilted it thick. Force of habit, I guess. So quilting the background too much longer that I thought.
Once I was done, I could not believe my own eyes, when my long-arm showed that I made almost two million stiches. Now I know why it took so long.
I have a rule that I never wash my quilts after I am done. I do not have enough space to spread them out to dry.
Therefore, the most difficult part was to clean up the erasable pen from the finished bedspread. First
I cleaned it with a wet cotton swab, it disappeared, but as the patchwork dried, blue streaks reappeared here and there.
This time I had to wash it, somehow. I hung up the bedspread (with no binding yet) on a clothesline in the sun and sprayed it very hard with water. Thanks to the sun it dried quickly, and the blue marks disappeared. Unfortunately, I had to repeat this a few times until they were all gone for good.
When it was completely dry, I had to trim it to the right size.
It’s good that my husband recently made an additional tabletop in my studio. Without it, it would have been extremely hard to neatly trim this colossus.
