Illusion II

Illusion II

In 2016 I made a quilt for the “Big Circles, Smaller Circles and Tiny Circles” contest, which and I called “Illusion”. This time I decided to sew another quilt that I called “Illusion II”.

My quilt is based on an image of an optical illusion. I hope that when it is finished, it will be psychedelic.

This is what the design looks like. So far, you can’t see anything moving yet, but I hope that will change.

This time I decided to only work with single-color fabrics, which I bought in Kiltowo. Ewa has such a big selection of 150cm wide cotton fabrics in her store. I chose 150 cm because it is an ideal size for my project. Thanks to this width I was able to cut individual circles without any additional joints. It is a pity that they do not make double-sided fusible web in this size.

Each circle was traced from the design onto the double-sided fusible web and cut out.

The individual parts were joined with each other, glued to the selected fabric, and cut out. The finished circles were layered on top of each other.

This is how the first part of the quilt was made, which just lounges here and waits for me to combine it with the second part.

However, I have to stop my work temporarily. Next week I will show you why.
