On January 2009 I decided to sew a patchwork for my daughter. So..the woman that means me, rushed with a hoe on the sun (this is a very much polish expression 😉). This could not be just any ordinary
patchwork, oh no. Absolutely not. This had to be a stained-glass patchwork straight from the heart. I found the design in a coloring book I saw online. I printed it out, glued the pieces together, and got to work.
Each heart was cut out, outlined on the fabric and cut out again. And then I realized I did not have the whole drawing, only the small section. Excellent 😊 now what? So, I had to print out the missing part and glue it again. Finally, I have the whole layout, but how am I supposed to connect them on a slant so that they do not fall apart. Tell me how?
Eureka! I used one sided, lightweight fusible web (back then, I did not know, that there is two-sided fusible web). I placed down the fusible web on the design, pinned down with pins, arranged my hearts and glued them down by pressing on them with a hot iron. And then everything was pinned and stitched. The wavy lines were made from soutache and stitched using zig-zag stitch.
Finally, the quilting time. After I finished this job, I threw out of my Lucznik. Never again. I must admit that I always hated that sewing machine, and still do. Although back in those days, it was rather good.
I bought a new sewing machine, the Bernina Q440 Quilters Edition, and fell in love.
