The windyday

The windyday

I thought a lot about what to call my last quilt. At the beginning I was thinking to call that “Windy Day” but driving to the meeting of Patchwork Malopolski one idea hit my mind. It was Winnie the Pooh and his famous blustery day. That made me smile 😊 so I decided that my quilt should have the same name.

I want to make maybe one or two more quilts just like that one using different color shames. But for now, these are just my plans.

I printed two templates, making sure that the second time was printed as a mirrored image. I knew that it will not be easy to assemble so many pieces.

I outlined the edge of the pieces to make them more visible under fabric.

Next I covered it by black fabric which was supposed to be the background.

I organized them by colors and named them A1, A2……B1, B2 and etc.

This was supposed to make the process of finding the right color then gluing it in the right spot easier. I drew the pieces remembering to follow my labels. I glued them down to my chosen fabric and started to cut.

Next, I started to arrange them on the black fabric.

I forgot to mention that I had a second template lying next to the first one on the table. Each time I traced and arranged the pieces on the first template I made sure to make a mark on the second template. This was so that I could see where I haven’t glued any pieces down yet.

After I finished gluing all the pieces, I still had to quilt it.

I chose multicolored thread and I used it to outline every piece. Not everything came out perfect but it I think that it added life to the quilt. For the background I used black thread and stippled with meandry wiggly lines.

The quilt is ready.

My quilt is going to MTP in Poznan HOME DÉCOR 2020. It will hang there in a vertical position, but I think that it looks better horizontally.
