MJ Kinman presents -CITRINE- November Birthstone

My dears, let me present one of the 12 patterns designed by MJ Kinman from The Birthstone Series. I won’t go into detail about how phenomenal the end result is, I’ll just get down to specifics.

12 patterns designed by MJ Kinman from The Birthstone Series

For the first pattern I chose the Citrine November Birthstone. In the package, I received a detailed description of the stitching cycle, a color chart (in this case there are only eleven), two identical prints: one on plain paper, the other on freezer paper, and a lot of advice from the author. Since I am already familiar with the FPP method, I got to work.

The pattern is divided into sections (four in this case), each element is given a letter and number combination which corresponds to a color chart and assembly guide- exactly the same as the FPP method.

The first step is selection of colors, according to the author’s suggestions, so all scraps on the table.

Using an iron, I glued the freezer paper to the correct color and cut it out with a ¼” margin. You may have noticed that element A0-1-16 has ½” extra on one side, this is the edge line so I might need some extra fabric just in case.

The first section is ready to be sewed together. Of course, I help myself by looking at the regular paper print when sewing.

Sometimes the freezer paper doesn’t stay where it should, so I basted it, and it helped.

The entire process looks similar to the FPP method. I inserted the needle at the marked point.

Right side to right side, I place the adjacent element and insert the pin at the right point.

And sewed both elements together. The needle is on the ¼ “position.

The first section is ready.

I sewed the remaining sections in the exact same way.
