Normality canceled. The brace stays

Thursday was supposed to bring relief. I was meant to take off the brace and take my first step back toward normal life. I could almost feel the wind in my hair and the scent of freedom… But no. Instead, I got a sentence: another six weeks in the brace.

I’m not sure what hurts more — my leg or the disappointment. For the past few days, I’ve been feeling down (mentally, because physically I’m mostly limping). No one told me it would take this long. No warning, no heads-up. And I, naively, believed it was almost over.

I’m writing this because maybe some of you have had your hopes crushed too. Maybe you were waiting for a better tomorrow that’s now been postponed indefinitely. Well, we’ll wait together. And maybe we’ll even laugh — if only through tears.

“Sometimes you have to pause to understand where you’re truly heading.”
