Sometimes is that if I see something interesting that stays in my mind for a long time. This is was happened with this quilt. I found the photo online and safe it, hoping that maybe someday I would create a quilt based on that photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No maybe!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here and now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I saw it, I save it and never stopped thinking about it. Ha, I rhymed. (in Polish only <\/em>\ud83d\ude0a).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I could not stand it I had to drew it, then sew it. I used so many markers and never got the idea that I should mark those that were in black only.<\/p>\n\n\n

Then I took two-sided adhesive and drew on it those parts that were supposed to be in black. I cut and glued to the black fabric. And what was my surprise, stripes did not fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, they did not fit because I forgot to make a mirror image of the pattern.  Since I already glued everything (fusible web is pretty expensive) so I had to make a correction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I spread the white fabric on drawn zebras and glued on cut pieces. The white fabric was thin enough that the pattern was visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to this, I had no problem with laying and sticking black parts on it.<\/p>\n\n\n

The half-product was ready, next all the black stripes were stitched with zig-zag stich. Once the whole thing was secured, I slightly painted the eyes, ears, and mouths. Back then I thought I was doing right, but now I would have done it differently.<\/p>\n\n\n

I used polyester foam as a filling. I basted it and started to quilt. I quilted the manes, the background, and the stripes. I admit, back then I had no idea what it would come out of, but I liked it. The manes I liked the most. If you take a good look at the background, you can see the contours of the lion, lioness, lion cub and monkeys.  Unfortunately, it is hard to capture that in the photo.<\/p>\n\n\n

My zebras had the chance to hang on the exhibition \u201cFeminine Climates\u201d organized by Cultural Centre in Przemysl, in the Gallery \u201cBasement\u201d in 2010.
