Finally, the new project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was looking for some ideas for a bedspread. There were some concepts, but I never accomplished any. On the other day I found online some Japanese Quilters Magazine and I found a bedspread that I just foul in love. I did not quite manage to make it like on the photo, but the final result was gratified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below there is quarter of a design.<\/p>\n\n\n

Of course, the pattern was design in Corel (I love this program) and then printed on multiple paper sheets and then joined into one big piece. Next, I put on it a double-sided fusible web and drew a pattern. The whole quilt was supposed to be 240x240cm<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a beast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the pattern was drawn on the fusible web, it was necessary to find a fabric. And again, that was a problem to find the right one, so I decided to dye it by myself. This time I bought a dye that worked in high temperature.  The intensity of the color depended on the time it was boiled in and its type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Excellent. But I needed to achieve an ombre effect. If I put into the boiling dye the whole piece of fabric, I will get the solid tint. What to do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I figured out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I divided the fabric onto four portions and began to dye, following one rule: shorter the bath-lighter the color, longer the bath- more intense color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, the part with lighter colors I kept over the dish. A then I repeated the process with the part of the fabric that was supposed to be dyed in darker shade. And I repeated that four times, following the directions.<\/p>\n\n\n

It was terribly tiring but the effect was cool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After dyeing, I glued double sided fusible web into the fabric and cut out the pattern. (four times)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then I glued on the pre-prepared white cotton background fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n

I sewed together all four elements. Those who quilt on ordinary sewing machines know the pain. I planned much different quilting pattern abut there was no chance to do it on small sewing machine. Unless someone likes hand sewing.<\/p>\n\n\n
