Recently, as you may have noticed, my blog was peacefully taken over, by my friend Sylwia 2. I have to<\/p>\n\n\n\n

thank God for this because there are a few competitions coming soon and this gave me more time to<\/em> work on some of my projects. I wrote about one of them here. You can see and read about it, and there<\/em> is still enough time to apply and sew something interesting and unique. I invite everyone to join the contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Additionally, I applied for a competition organized by the Polish Patchwork Association and the Museum of Linen in Zyrardow called \u201cHow it was with linen\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These two contests caused my blog activity to decrease. Now I am slowly coming back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, lat me show you my patchwork blanket, which I sewed just to relax. I bought the fabric from Ewa in Kiltowo<\/a> store, and it is called \u2018Fade in Sewing Squares Patchwork\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n

The fabric is a little bit sad, but it will work perfectly for my cat and rabbits. The blanket consists<\/em> only of the top and bottom layers. It perfectly pretends to be a real patchwork. For the bottom layer I<\/em> used knitted fabric. It is delicate, warm, and soft and is 220 cm in width. It is perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the fastest patchwork I have done in my life. I just sewed two large layers of fabrics with each other, lightly quilted, and wrapping, nothing more. The blanket consists only of the top and bottom layers. It perfectly pretends to be a real patchwork. For the bottom layer I used knitted fabric. It is delicate, warm, and soft and is 220 cm in width.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 It is perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n

I quilted the whole thing on the grid. Simple, fast lines. Full relaxation.<\/p>\n\n\n

The grid came out quite large and did not stiffen the fabric flannel. The blanket is incredibly soft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now it is laying on my favorite armchair, which is recently occupied by rabbits. When I come closer to<\/em> sit down, the rabbits make such mean faces like, \u201cwhat is going on, this is our chair\u201d and \u201cwe will not<\/em> give it back.\u201d The fight is lost before it even begins. So, here I am sitting on the floor, while the rabbits<\/em> are on the armchair.<\/p>\n\n\n

My daughter recently told me that I only write about my work in the studio and nothing from my private<\/em> life. So, today there will be glimpse into my private life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I just finished making gingerbread dough. This is a special recipe that requires the dough to relax in a cool place over a month. So, we always make it at least a month before Holydays. Apparently, the best gingerbread dough ages like this for several years. Mine will age for only a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year we had plague of mice in the pantry in our basement where my dough was resting. Before I<\/em> noticed the problem, my gingerbread dough was eaten. The only thing that was left was a tiny hole in<\/em> the cloth that covered the dough. This year we have a cat on duty, and I have to hope the dough makes it to the holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, this is the recipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1kg of flour, # 650. To the flour we add three flat teaspoons of baking soda, a pinch of salt, \u00bd cup of milk and three whole eggs. Without the shells of course. That mixture is now waiting for our marinate.<\/p>\n\n\n

In the pot we put one cube 200 gr of pork lard, which we dissolve on the stove.  Mix often so that it does not burn. Once the fat melts, add 2 cups of sugar and stir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, we add 0,5 kg of honey, one bag of gingerbread spice, 2 full teaspoons of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamon, and ground cloves spice. We mix everything together.   <\/p>\n\n\n

When everything is nicely combined, cool it slightly while stirring. Pour the ready mixture into the previously prepared flour. Here unfortunately you need a helper. He pours and I mix.<\/p>\n\n\n

When the dough is pre-mixed and everything has been poured in, the hand becomes the mixing tool.<\/em> Mix until all the ingredients are combined well. Transfer it into a small bowl and cover with plastic food<\/em> wrap.<\/p>\n\n\n

Remember to leave a small gap, so that the dough can breathe.<\/p>\n\n\n

Then we put on a double folded cloth on top of the bowl and secure it with rubber bands.<\/p>\n\n\n

 Take the bowl to the cool space. I am going to the basement.<\/p>\n\n\n

If there are any leftovers the bowl you have to lick it clean.<\/p>\n\n\n
