So, I\u2019ll take this opportunity to add my story about Sylwia\u2019s 1 quilt \u201cInvasion of Mars,\u201d which she sewed<\/em> in 2017 and publicly displayed it at the exhibition in Boleslawiec in 2018 link here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

W 2018 roku, przypadkowo natrafi\u0142am na relacj\u0119 z tej wystawy, gdzie ogl\u0105daj\u0105c zdj\u0119cia pi\u0119knych prac, zwr\u00f3ci\u0142am uwag\u0119 na jedn\u0105. Zauroczona, ka\u017cdego wieczoru, tygodniami przygl\u0105da\u0142am si\u0119 jej wodz\u0105c palcem po ekranie, powi\u0119kszaj\u0105c go tam i powrotem, zachwycaj\u0105c si\u0119 precyzj\u0105 wykonania, kolorami i technik\u0105. W\u00f3wczas nie zwraca\u0142am uwagi kto wykona\u0142 to dzie\u0142o bo po prostu moja pami\u0119\u0107 do nazwisk jest bardzo uboga, ale uzna\u0142am ze musi to by\u0107 artysta kt\u00f3rego niebiosa obdarzy\u0142y niezwyk\u0142ym darem.  Wyobra\u017ania podsuwa\u0142a mi stereotyp: wyobra\u017ca\u0142am sobie kogo\u015b  wyr\u00f3\u017cniaj\u0105cego  si\u0119 w t\u0142umie swoim ekstrawaganckim sposobem bycia, kt\u00f3ry cz\u0119sto cechuje artyst\u00f3w.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, I accidently stumbled on an article about this exhibition and, while looking through photos of all<\/em> the beautiful works on display, a certain piece caught my eye. I was enchanted for weeks, I kept<\/em> admiring it every night, running my fingers on the screen, enlarging the image back and forth, and<\/em> admiring the precision of workmanship, colors, and the beautiful technique. At that time, I did not pay<\/em> attention to the name of the artist responsible for it, simply because I am terrible at remembering<\/em> names. My imagination pushed me into a stereotype: I imagined a very gifted artist to whom heaven<\/em> had been kind to. In my mind, I saw a person visibly standing out from the crowd, simply for their<\/em> extravagant way of being, which is so often a characteristic of artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Czas mija\u0142, moje \u017cycie i moje szycie toczy\u0142o si\u0119 swoim tempem, do mementu kiedy w 2019 roku uda\u0142o mi si\u0119 odkry\u0107 Fablab w Krakowie i spotka\u0107 grup\u0119  dziewczyn tak samo zakr\u0119conych jak ja. Poniewa\u017c by\u0142am nowa i pocz\u0105tkuj\u0105ca wi\u0119c nie zna\u0142am nikogo.  Sta\u0142am sobie w k\u0105cie s\u0142uchaj\u0105c rozm\u00f3w innych os\u00f3b gdzie tematami przewodnim by\u0142y oczywi\u015bcie quilty, materia\u0142y, nici itp. Pomy\u015bla\u0142am z ulg\u0105 \u017ce chyba znalaz\u0142am si\u0119 we w\u0142a\u015bciwym miejscu we w\u0142a\u015bciwym czasie. \u00d3wczesna gospodyni spotkania Ewa Pasinska oznajmi\u0142a: no to dziewczyny poka\u017ccie swoje prace. I wtedy po\u015br\u00f3d innych zgromadzonych tam os\u00f3b wysz\u0142a na \u015brodek sali drobna dziewczyna z pi\u0119knym u\u015bmiecham na twarzy, tak pi\u0119knie zwyczajna i bezpo\u015brednia. Wyjmowa\u0142a z kartonowego pud\u0142a swoje niezwyk\u0142e prace, m\u00f3wi\u0105c o ka\u017cdej par\u0119 s\u0142\u00f3w z tak\u0105 skromno\u015bci\u0105 jakby wykonanie tych szytych obraz\u00f3w by\u0142o dla niej zupe\u0142nie naturalne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time passed, my life and my sewing went by at its own pace, up to the moment in 2019 when<\/em> I managed to discover Fablab in Krakow, where I met a group of women as insane about quilting as I am.<\/em> As I was new and a beginner in the craft, I didn\u2019t know anyone. I stood in the corner listening to other<\/em> people conversations where the main topics were, of course, quilts, fabrics, threads etc. I thought to<\/em> myself: what a relief, I found just the right place at the right time. The hostess of the meeting at the<\/em> time, Ewa Pasinska, announced to everyone: \u201cWell, girls, show us your quilts.\u201d One woman stepped out<\/em> from among the other people gathered there, a tiny, petite sized girl with a beautiful smile on her face,<\/em> so beautifully ordinary and stood in the center of the room. She began to take her beautiful quilts out of<\/em> a cardboard box. She stopped and said a few words about each piece as she took them out with such a<\/em> modesty, as if the execution of these pieces of art came so naturally to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wtedy nast\u0105pi\u0142 ten moment. Wyj\u0119\u0142a z kartonowego  pud\u0142a \u201cPodb\u00f3j Marsa\u201d, ten  podb\u00f3j w kt\u00f3rym si\u0119 zakocha\u0142am, nad kt\u00f3rym sp\u0119dzi\u0142am tak wiele wieczor\u00f3w. Zamieni\u0142am si\u0119 w s\u0142up soli. By\u0142am oszo\u0142omiona. W\u00f3wczas dotar\u0142 do mnie sens bardzo m\u0105drego powiedzenie \u017ce je\u015bli los zamyka przed Tob\u0105 jedne drzwi to na pewno otworzy nast\u0119pne. Wi\u0119c wesz\u0142am w te otwarte drzwi a reszt\u0119 historii ju\u017c znacie. I okaza\u0142o si\u0119 to najpi\u0119kniejsz\u0105 przygod\u0105 mojego \u017cycia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then the moment came. From that plain cardboard box, she pulled out a piece I actually recognized, a<\/em> piece I had fallen in love with and spent so many nights admiring every single detail, she pulled out<\/em> \u201cInvasion of Mars.\u201d I was stunned. I was shocked. It was then that I understood that wise saying that iffate closes one door for you, it will open another one. So, I walked into that open door, and you know the rest of the story. It turned out that open door led me to the most beautiful adventure of my life.<\/p>\n\n\n
