\u201cAll good things come to an end\u201d- I kept repeating this to myself, taking part in this year\u2019s last challenge, organized by Kim Lapacek. This time it is \u201cFlying Geese.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0I had two options – a cosmetics bag (that I actually need) or a pillow with a cotton panel with a sewing machine on it, something that I have dreaming about for several years now but could never find the<\/em> time to make it. I chose the pillow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cosmetics bag can wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the panel.<\/p>\n\n\n

The idea was to put the panel in the center of the pillow and have \u201cflying geese\u201d surround it. It\u2019s nothing spectacularly creative but for me it was a new experience. Of course, I have sewed \u201cflying geese\u201d before, but I have never designed a pillow with this motif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took a large sheet of paper and drew a square (40×40 cm) on it. This was supposed to be the size of my pillow, plus seam allowance (1 cm on each side).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the center of the paper sheet, I put the panel on and drew the width of my \u201cflying geese.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then I divided the paper sheet into eight equal parts (these are to be my geese).<\/p>\n\n\n

I was very excited about this project. This was the first time that I was doing this on a regular paper sheet. It was important for me not to make any mistakes (I admit, I am not a math genius).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, I cut the paper into sections (like in the \u201cPaper Piecing\u201d method) and used the PP.<\/p>\n\n\n

First,  I sewed the corner blocks of the pillow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are the four corner blocks. Then I started on my \u201cflying geese.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I used my hand dyed fabrics and PP method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have to recommend this great ruler, Add-A-Quarter Plus, I dedicated it to using templates or sewing using the PP method. After creating templates, using this ruler, I can add a typical \u00bc\u201d seam stock to any straight edge. I bought mine at the \u201cPani Szpilka”<\/a>online store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When all elements were ready, I sewed them together with the panel, one by one.<\/p>\n\n\n

I was so happy. All elements matched. Now my pillow needs some quilting and the back side.<\/p>\n\n\n

Ready. The challenge has been completed, and I got a lovely pillow out of it.<\/p>\n\n\n
