Do you remember the daughters of Zeus and Themis: Eiar<\/strong> (Ejar), Theros<\/strong> (Teros), Phthinoporon<\/strong> (Ftinoporon), and Cheimon<\/strong> (Chejmon)? In Greek mythology, they are considered the personifications of the four seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 I recently completed a series of art quilts that represented these powerful goddesses. These quilted works were made from the \u201cPower of the Elements\u201d panels, designed by the talented fantasy artist and sculptor, Josephine Wall<\/a>, and came alive thanks to the OBW (One Block Wonder) technique.<\/p>\n\n\n

Let me introduce you to the world of these fascinating projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eiar – The Lady of Spring<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spring is a promise that life will always find a way, even after the darkest winter days. It\u2019s a time when nature awakens from its winter sleep. The weather becomes unpredictable – strong winds, snow, and sun coexist. Frozen water comes alive, trees bud, birds sing joyous songs, and insects return to their daily tasks. The sun shines longer, and days become warmer. She likes yellow, the color of the sun and flowers. Green, the color of grass, leaves, and shoots. Blue, the color of the sky, water, and spring rains. Pink, the color of blooming trees, such as cherry or magnolia. Her symbols iare the snowdrop and the crocus. The first is considered a harbinger of new life, the second is a symbol of hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Theros – The Lady of Summer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer bursts with life. It is a perfect time for trips to the beach, picnics, peaceful walks and outdoor activities. In gardens and parks, colorful flowers bloom, and fruit trees bear abundant fruit. Summer is a time of joy, relaxation and unforgettable moments. Her attribute is a sunflower, a symbol of happiness and warmth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Autumn is the time of the year when leaves change color and fall from the trees, and days become shorter and cooler. She likes warm shades of brown, orange, yellow and red, which remind her of the beauty of earth and fire. Her attribute is a grape, a symbol of abundance and joy.<\/p>\n\n\n

Cheimon – The Lady of Winter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Winter, the coldest and darkest of the four seasons – covers the landscape in white. The snow creates charming views, and magic seems to float in the air. It is a time when wolves wander, and silence favors contemplation. Winter has its own unique charm. Her attributes are snow and snowflakes. The first is considered a symbol of purity and silence, the second of individuality and delicateness. It is my favorite image, although I personally do not like winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
