Mini mandala

And so it went on the whole week. So I decided to bring a little colour into these grey days.

I made a mini mandala. The diameter is 61 cm, quilted on a black background with colourful embroidery threads from Isacord and Mozart.

The pattern was given to me by TAMSAMTAM. It’s gorgeous — just like all her mandala designs.

This time I limited the colour palette to two shades of blue and pink. I admit it — these are my favourite colours. The next mandala will be in different colours. I think there will be several, because when I look at the long‑term weather forecast, I see nothing but rain. It makes me despair a little — I definitely didn’t get enough sunshine this year.

Quilting, as always, was great fun.

Except when I had to unpick. Then it wasn’t quite so fun. My husband couldn’t believe I had made a mistake and was actually unpicking. He had to take a photo — and enjoyed it immensely. He also made me promise to write about it on the blog, so here it is.

Once upon a time, having to unpick something would throw me into deep despair. Now I smile (sometimes through tears) and simply do it.

The mandala is finished.

I used 15 colours and stitched the needle into the fabric 417,980 times.
