We are Slavs — a border divided us, a war united us. Thanks to Agsandrew, whose contours of human faces became the starting point, I was able to express how deeply these words resonate in my life. Living right next to the Ukrainian border, I welcomed into my home a family fleeing the war. This experience permanently changed my view of people and of what true solidarity means. In the artwork, I captured the emotions that accompanied this moment — fear, despair, love, and brotherhood — represented through pictograms and symbolic forms. The central part of the composition consists of three overlapping human profiles built from multicolored, dynamic lines. The colors intertwine into a pulsating structure, reminiscent of a stream of thoughts and stories flowing between people. The four-colored background symbolizes borders and national identities, while the subtle silhouettes of people holding hands form a line of community — bonds that arise despite divisions. This work speaks of empathy, of closeness born in difficult moments, of the fact that war can divide but also build new bridges between people. The piece encourages us to see the human being in another person — beyond borders, beyond fear, beyond pain. Artistic quilt, handmade with meticulous attention to every detail.
