The Eyes of the Giraffe’s Soul

The Eyes of the Giraffe’s Soul

This giraffe is my small unfinished project, which I started working on in October, but I did not finish until January of next year. Creating my works, I try to stay focused on one project and to not start a new one until the current one if finished. I made that decision a long time ago, so I do not fill up my closets with unfinished projects. I would rather fill them up with finished ones.

The eye of the giraffe was created as part of the “Eyes of the soul” collection. This is my fourth project on this subject.

This is the lighting (illuminated) table made by my husband .

I used cotton fabrics only some are hand dyed by me, some were bought. I like the fabrics from Northcott, from their Stonehenge Collection. They are perfect for my art quilts. For this I used worsted wool.

During quilting.

When I am working my tablet became an especially useful tool, which I use when I am quilting some of my works.

The tablet is a must have tool for quilting.

The whole piece I quilted on my long arm. In the beginning it was not easy at all. I was positive that it was easier for me to control my quilting on regular sewing machine than on long arm. If I would have stayed working on the art quilts only, I would possibly picked up the table version of the long arm. But I managed to take control of the great beast anyway.
