This is the last stage of the formation of my quilt. You can read about the entire creation process here.
So far, the most difficult task for me has been quilting the sky. I always have a big problem with it. This time was no different, and I think in the end it did not come out entirely how I wanted it to. I try to watch other quilters at work but on the internet this is hard. I need to see photos showing all the little details.
I put my quilt on the Bernina long arm, twice. I used a machine trapunto method making the waves and the light house. I wanted the elements to be convex and to seem real. I quilted the light of the light house with golden threads. I terribly do not like to use them. During quilting they break pretty often.
When I already cut out the excess batting, I put my quilt back on Bernina long arm. I started with the easiest part- the birds.
Next was the sky.
In the photo I look relaxed, but this is just for show. I have not started yet.
After I was done with the sky, it was time for the ocean.
I made the binding using amazing fabrics I bought in Kiltowo and my quilt is finished.
