AB INTRA” is the name of our next task given to us by Trisha Frankland, a friend of Kim Lapacek, in the sixth challenge of the Quilting Project.
And that was it.
I realized that this idea best reflects „AB INTRA” in my case.
But to present my work, I needed to make something extra.
I managed to do it thanks to the tutorial of the Russian designer Natalia MaKovskaya, called „Doll’s Therapy”.
I sewed a little mannequin.
In order to do that I used linen scraps, that I got not that long ago. Pattern and tutorial is avaliable here.
When the linen was cut out and stiffened with a liner, I started sewing. I put all the parts together one by one. Sometimes by hand, sometimes by machine.
When my manekin was ready, I started to sew my kitchen appron.
I found the pattern on the internet. I enlarged the photo to the size that I needed, printed it, and cut it out.
I found a cute piece of my hand dyed fabric, which I used to sew the appron. Then I sewed in the frill.
In addition, I cut out filling and the back. This was done to meet one of the requirements of the „Project Quilting” game.
I sewed everything together, adding previously prepared strips.
I sewed the whole thing with embroidery thread – using a basting stitch in the color green.
Next I made a little pocket, which I also sewed to the apron with a basting stich.
I sewed on tiny roses and my apron is ready.
The apron on the mini mannequin looks cute.
But this is not the end yet.
Additionaly, I made a cotillion using a satin ribbon and a button.
Now you’re probably wondering why I chose a kitchen apron and a cotillion. What does this have to do „AB INTRA” ?
For me, the apron symbolizes household chores, which leave me no time for sewing. When am I in my studio busy creating something, I despise having to pause what I’m doing and spend it on household chores (I hate cooking).
But I also have something that drives me and inspires me to new ideas. Whether it be contests, challenges, or even the prizes. They are my spark. Thanks to them I feel wonderful. I feel that I’m developing personally. My brain is getting more and more creative. And this is good.
