I am curious if you like working with felt? I would have to say that so far, this is not my favorite material to work with. Maybe because I use it pretty sporadicly. Today, however, is the day that I change my mind. Felt is fantastic.
For the past few days I have been immobilized, so using the sewing machine has been out of the question. That is why the thought of using felt even crossed my mind. Due to the fact that I am a „hamster,” I was able to find some colored felt and mouline threads in a cavernous cupboard. Next, I dug up a pattern on Pinterest and went to work.
I transferred the pattern to Corel, enlarged it, and printed it out. I could only do it this way thanks to the fact that the picture I wanted to use was rather small. Usually the bigger the picture the worse the quality.
Unfortunately, I do not know the author of this wonderful piece, so I will put it here only for illustration.
I used double-sided fusible web, on which I drew the individual elements. I picked a piece of felt and glued the lining to it. Remember to iron the felt through a piece of baking paper or some cloth to protect it.
I cut out and then glued the individual pieces.
A nice application process came out, it is not fully perfected yet but I can see its potential.
Now just a needle, some thread, and a pair hands and the fun begins.
As you can see I could not move very well, so my blood circulation was poor and I constantly felt cold, so I dressed in many layers, like an onion.
I added some colorfull beads and decorative buttons. I did not use any batting or any back fabric. One layer only.
I glued my picture to some plywood and secured it with double-sided tape. I tucked any excess fabric under the plywood and secured it. My husband nailed a tiny picture pendant.
My picture is finished. Time for Easter wishes.
