On October 8 th , there was a meeting of the “Patchwork Mazowiecki” group. You might be wondering why I’m even writing about it, so I’ll explain right away. My friend Sylwia and I recently became new members of this group, and this was our first meeting and our first opportunity to meet the other members.
We were both were incredibly lucky because we came across a course run by the famous Katarzyna Pleśniak. Kasia creates amazing works that we like very much.
She has her own unique style that I envy very much. I love looking at all of these torn scraps of fabric in her works. I don’t even get shivers anymore and I don’t have my reflex reaction to hide all these threads anymore.
Of course, a week before in the group “Patchwork Mazowiecki,” we were informed of all of the things we would need to bring to class.
The topic: Full Moon, size A3 (aprox. 30×40 cm ) or A4 (aprox. 20x30cm)
Materials needed:
– pieces of linen in various sizes in the following colors: dark gray, graphite, dark navy blue
– pieces of linen in various sizes in the following colors: lilac, light gray (hand dyed pieces of non-uniform
colors will look very nice but are not necessary.)
-pins and needles for hand sewing
– thread for basting
-scissors
-filling (any kind)
– the back (preferably linen)
I managed to find various pieces of white linen that I dyed. I have to confess, the effect of my experiments surprised me.
Kasia showed us her projects on which she was working and shared her techniques with us. I learned that for shredding and wiping fabrics, he uses, for example, a foot grater or graters for vegetables as well as pumice and sandpaper. Awesome.
There was no end to the fraying, cutting, and arranging. I discovered that it was very fun, and it was also very relaxing.
We had a great time.
The last stage of the process was basting it. I broke off a bit and I fastened everything with pins to be able to change the concept at the final stage if necessary.
It turned out amazing. With the last few touches, decorative basting and cutting unnecessary fabric, and the project is ready.
