The quilt was made to order and has already been received by its owner, but I promised my son that I would write about it on my blog.
First, I made a sketch, which has evolved a little while it was being created.
I had several different approaches in mind when it came to the center of my sunflower. I must admit that it was not a simple task. Every one of my concepts turned out to be a failure.
But I finally got it. This was the first time I broke my own rule and actually drew straight on the fabric. Of course, in the final phase, my sketches cannot be seen because all of the lines were quilted over.
Then it was the time for the petals. I did not expect them to look so amazing.
In the later stages of the sunflower, the rabbits started to help me.
“Patch” examined the sunflower closely.
Then she decided that I should use the color picked out by her.
Like in any good marriage, “Pimpus” agreed.
I guess they did not like my reaction because they left.
As a result, I was able to take care of the leaves for my sunflower in peace.
Then it was the time to create the wooden planks. It was supposed to be the last element of my quilt. Form the very beginning I planned on creating them by myself.
My husband thought that I should use some ready-made fabric with the planks printed on it already. I admit that for one tiny moment (very tiny), I thought he was right and took it into consideration, but in the end, I decided not to. I made the planks myself.
That decision hit the bullseye because they came out fantastic.
Quilting was the last stage.
And that’s everything, the quilt flew away to its owner.
