Stitching slow stories...

Gifts, gifts, and more gifts.

Gifts, gifts, and more gifts.

The most difficult thing to write about is something that I’ve just finished sewing but can’t fully show it.

Yes, I am talking about gifts, things that we sew for family members or friends. There is always a risk that the person who is meant to receive the gift, stumbles onto the blog and sees what I am sewing at this moment. And just like that… the element of surprise is gone.

Therefore, I will only tell you a few little things and show you just a glimpse or two of what I have been sewing lately. This is gift is meant for two sisters. I did not get any specific instructions or details about what to sew so I came up with… (and this is where I have to bite my tongue so as not to spoil anything.)

I used six beautiful panels with a floral print. I bought them a while ago (I have to admit that it was on impulse), they are so pretty. I planned to sew some nice cushions but then decided that the floral print deserved better. I put them aside and they have been laying around, until now.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to admire them anymore, but I hope that the recipients will like them.

Of course, the panels are just the beginning. I am so glad to have access to Pinterest. There is so much inspiration there, everyone can find something interesting for themselves. I scrolled through pictures, chose the fabrics and hired my husband to make a diagram. I am not good at counting block measurements, but my husband is an expert.

After calculating and drawing, I started cutting and sewing. Everything went smoothly.

Sewing the blocks with matching points is very hard and time consuming, especially for those with no experience in it. I am one of the inexperienced. It took me way more time than I had planned, but the quilting part gave me so much joy.
