The Sun

The Sun

One day. We only had one day with sunshine. For me this is not enough. I need more sun. So, I decided to make my own. The type of sun that knocks on my bedroom door early morning and tickles my nose. So, once again a mandala.

The design made by Tatyana Putyatina

Yes, I know, but what can I do, the more I make the more I like them.

61 cm in diameter, quilted on a black background with colorful embroidery threads from Isacord and Mozart. As an extra, I added two reflective threads. They look cool in the twilight.

To make my sun hot and bright, I used a full color palette from red to yellow.

I must admit that I do not like using the #24 foot (the thin and open one). For quilting, I only use #72.  No matter if I quilt free-hand or use rulers, this one is perfect for me.

This time everything went smoothly and there was no unstitching. My sun is done.

I used only thirteen colors and stuck the needle into fabric 470,496 times.
