Project Quilting-First Challenge 2023

Project Quilting-First Challenge 2023

Welcome to the 14th season of Project Quilting! I am once again taking part in it. This week’s project must make use of the “one” theme in some way. I have a week to meet the challenge. Each element of the challenge must be a COMPLETED project seen from CONCEPT to COMPLETE during the duration of the challenge, which ends January 8th.

A week is quite a lot of time to do such a project, unless you have no idea what to do at all. It took me a few days just to figure out what I could even do. “One” is not my favorite challenge, but I think I managed to meet it.

So, lets begin.

I cut a rectangle using double sided web.

I marked lines every ¼ inch on a rectadgle.

In the middle of the rectangle, I glued on the first fabric.

Next, I used the Paper Piecing method. I applied the new fabric to the already glued one.

I turned it around and then sewed on the double-sided web, following the previously drawn lines.

I cut the sewn fabric and glued it to the interlining. I repeated this operation on the other side of the previously glued fabric.

When all the strips were stitched, I tore off the paper from the web and ironed to the batting.

I quilted the whole thing with white thread.

Next, I cut it to desired shape.

Surely you must be wondering what it might be? Be patient, in a moment everything will be clear.

I stitched the edges with a zigzag and attached beads on the edge.

Almost done.

For the finishing touch, I sewed on some buttons that my son cut for me with the laser. The buttons are in the shape of the number 1, so I believe that I passed the challenge.

The grand finale. The cowboy saddle is ready.

Have a nice day. I’m looking forward to the next challenge.
