Today I would like to share with you with my joy and tell you how proud I am that my art quilt “Border” was awarded at Carrefour European Patchwork in Saint Marie aux Mines in France. This is the most prestigious festival of patchwork in Europe, which takes place every year in the picturesque valley of Val d’Argent. This year the theme of the competition was “Tribes”, and I decided to submit my work. My piece is made from cotton fabric, hand dyed by me, and measures 120 cm x 80 cm.
My art quilt was selected from many entries from all over the world and qualified for the final, which included a total of 30 projects. It was a great honor and a dream come true for me, because I have admired the work of so many of these artists for such a long time. I decided to attend the festival in person and see the exhibition, and to meet the other competition participants. I was accompanied by my husband and my friend Sylwia Haluch, who is also very passionate about patchwork and textile art.
The festival lasted four days and was beautiful.
The greatest surprise and joy for me was that my art quilt was noticed by the competition jury and received a special award from the competition organizers. It was a huge success and honor for me, because the competition was very tough, the standard of work among the other entries is very impressive. I would like to thank the festival organizers for this award and congratulate all the other winners and finalists of the competition.
