I can’t believe that half of January is already behind us. Time flies so fast that it’s hard to keep up. Last weekend, I participated in a conference at the University of Folk Arts and Crafts ULRA in Wola Sękowa. As usual, it was very creative.
On Friday, I continued my work on a Romanian lace doily, which is my big challenge. So far, I have used 60 meters of string that I crocheted myself. I am very proud of this project and hope to finish it by June.
In addition, I had classes in Carpathian embroidery and folk singing. I learned a beautiful song called “An owl sits in the barn”, which has so much magic and charm.
On Saturday, I immersed myself in the world of ceramics and glazing. I glazed my first clay work, which I made at ULRA. I can’t wait to see the final effect.
I also worked on weaving. I learned a carpet weave, which is very interesting and impressive.
On Sunday, I discovered the secrets of wet felting under the guidance of Joanna Wiśni Rey, who runs the Artistic Weave Workshop in Jarosław. I made a felt purse, I just need to sew a zipper and strap then will show it.
I made a round bottom from wicker and finished the bottom of a rectangular basket. I love working with natural materials.
In the evening, I learned to paint porcelain with a pen thanks to my roommate from the University of Folk Arts, Beata Kupiec. She creates amazing things in her Creative Hut on Facebook. I recommend you check it out and admire her talents.
On Monday, I painted with oil paints for the first time in my life. It was a fantastic adventure. I fell in love with this technique and want to learn more.
As you can see, my weekend was full of creative energy and inspiration. Thank you ULRA giving me the opportunity of meeting inspiring people and for giving me a chance for personal advancement. I’m looking forward to the next conference with impatience.”
