Slowly but surely, the last semester at the Folk University of Artistic Crafts is approaching. During this time, we have to complete two diploma projects, which will mark the end of our two-year education. The program includes specialized subjects in the field of artistic crafts and fine arts, such as weaving, embroidery, lace, ceramics, wood carving, wickerwork, stained glass, utilitarian forms, iconography, and printmaking. It is up to us to choose what we want to focus on. I have already completed my first project, and I am extremely proud of it. I used traditional Carpathian embroidery.
I attached this embroidery to a bag I had previously sewn, made from washed linen. The embroidery was done on panama fabric, which gave the bag a unique and traditional look.
The creation process was incredibly inspiring for me. Carpathian embroidery, with its rich patterns and colors (although I chose only two colors), perfectly complements the natural linen, creating a unique piece of functional art. The bag is not only practical but also a beautiful example of combining modern design with traditional crafting techniques.
I hope my work will inspire others to explore and use traditional techniques in modern projects. Carpathian embroidery is not only a beautiful decoration but also a way to preserve and promote our culture and heritage.
