Beginning

Beginning

Sometimes a single moment in the garden becomes the spark for something completely new. That’s how my latest textile artwork, “Beginning”, came to life. The starting point was a photo I took in my own garden — a branch of an apple tree with buds, still closed, holding the quiet promise of blooming. This moment of pause, of anticipation before colour appears, inspired me to create a piece about birth, about the first breath, about everything that is just about to unfold.

The artwork is made entirely from fabric, built layer by layer with attention to every detail. I quilted it on a longarm, letting the lines of thread guide the eye along the delicate shapes of buds and branches. Texture plays an important role here — soft, organic, full of subtle transitions.

If you’d like to see the piece in person, “Beginning” is currently on display at the INTERPIANO Coffee-Flavoured Gallery in Sanok. The exhibition runs until Thursday, June 11, so these are the last days to view it in a space that beautifully highlights its character.
